USMNT Premier League match day 10 recap: Chris Richards struggles, but Tyler Adams helps red-hot Bournemouth
With several key USMNT players in the Premier League, the final weekend of action before the international break is a big one. Most of the American contingent in the Premier League is on the November roster that will face Haiti in the Nations League. Let's see how those players performed on matchday 10, leading up to the international window.
Chris Richards, Crystal Palace
Coming off a tough performance in Europa League on Thursday, Richards had another long afternoon on Sunday. He and Palace lost to Liverpool 3-0, sending the Eagles into the international break last in the Premier League. Richards won four of his five duels and had five defensive contributions. But it simply wasn’t good enough for the Crystal Palace backline to contain a top-flight Liverpool attack.
Antonee Robinson, Fulham
After a string of solid shifts for Fulham, Robinson heads into the international break off a low note. He made a mistake on Saturday that led to Newcastle’s goal in a 1-1 draw. Robinson appeared to make a run forward, although the pass was behind him. After the miscommunication, Robinson wasn’t able to back track and stop an absolute banger from Jacob Murphy. While he did make five defensive contributions, it was an overall subpar performance from the USMNT left back.
Tyler Adams, Bournemouth
Adams went the distance in Bournemouth’s 2-1 win over Ipswich on Sunday. As usual, his work rate was exceptional, with Adams covering more ground than any other player. He also made 15 defensive contributions to help the Cherries win their eighth consecutive game across all competitions. Adams has played in all eight of those games, playing a key role in Bournemouth’s midfield, pushing the club to seventh in the Premier League and making the Cherries one of three teams that are perfect during the Europa League league phase.
Brenden Aaronson, Leeds United
Leeds got a 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, but Aaronson was an unused substitute in the game. He obviously won’t be with the national team during the upcoming break and has a lot of work to do if he wants to get back into the mix for the next international break in March.
