Tzolis loves him: Arsenal target will become a 'top European striker'
Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi has been tipped to go straight to the top amid interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.
The Germany youth international has been tearing it up at Club Brugge since joining from Hannover 96 for just €7.5 million last year. Tresoldi didn't have an amazing goalscoring record in the 2. Bundesliga, but he was a consistent threat in his final two seasons.
Since his arrival in Belgium, the 22-year-old has taken his game to a new level, so much so that he is now being chased by three different national associations. Germany, Italy and Argentina all want Tresoldi to play for their senior teams.
It was a surprise that the striker was not included in Jurgen Klopp's massive Germany squad during the recent break, but that was likely due to the fact that he has not yet made a final decision on his senior international future.
Tresoldi is reportedly keen to play for Germany in next year's U21 European Championship, although a lot can still happen before next June. Indeed, if he keeps going on his current trajectory, it will become increasingly difficult to turn down senior call-ups.
Tresoldi can become an elite striker
The versatile forward has bagged 29 goals since joining Brugge, with 23 coming last season when he formed an incredibly deadly partnership with Christos Tzolis. The Greek secured a major move to Arsenal off the back of that campaign; Tresoldi didn't.
The 22-year-old was reportedly on the radar of the Gunners too, but no transfer materialised. Brugge didn't want to lose both in the same window, and Arsenal never really considered Tresoldi as a truly serious option this summer.
Having started the new season with six goals in 10 appearances, the Cagliari-born attacker is once again making headlines. Barcelona, who were also among his suitors this summer, are still keeping a close eye on his performances.
Reports in Spain recently confirmed Barcelona's continued monitoring of Tresoldi, and there is a belief that he may become a credible target for them next year. That, however, seems to be predicated on a failure to land more high-profile options such as Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.
Even if he doesn't end up at a club the size of Arsenal or Barcelona, Tresoldi is poised to have a very good career. According to teammate Yann Sommer, the Brugge star can develop into a high-level forward.
"Tresoldi can become a top European striker, 100%," Sommer told Gazzetta dello Sport. "He's humble, professional and has the qualities to play for a big club."
