Antonin Kinsky is entrenched as Tottenham Hotspur's starting goalkeeper, and Roberto De Zerbi has placed full confidence in him from Day One, even though he actually came into the job liking Italian international Guglielmo Vicario, who has since moved on to Juventus on loan as their new No. 1 between the sticks.

After a disastrous night against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in which Igor Tudor hung him out to dry, Kinsky bounced back to become the biggest star of Spurs Premier League survival. And whlie he has not made as many heroic saves this season, as his clean sheet victory against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago displayed, the Czech keeper has definitely been an asset to Spurs, especially since he does not lose the team games which was the case with Vicario last season.

De Zerbi made a bold call by sticking with Kinsky as his No. 1, because he actually could have signed a new, top Premier League goalkeeper to replace Vicario. Sunderland's breakout star Robin Roefs was on the table, while Bart Verbruggen of Brighton has always been a favorite of the manager's. And Verbruggen has been amazing this season for a Seagulls side that sits in the top three of the league.

Antonin Kinsky won't want to get shown up

But for many fans, by far the most intriguing option and the one they really wanted before Antonin Kinsky forced everyone's hands with his brilliance at the end of the season was James Trafford. One of the best young goalkeepers in Europe, Trafford went to Manchester City thinking he had his big opportunity to be the No. 1 at an elite club, only to realize they were signing Gianluigi Donnarumma and he would be second fiddle to one of the world's most established shot stoppers.

Trafford managed to get his move away this past summer, but instead of going to Tottenham Hotspur, it was Leeds United who opened up their pocket books for the young goalkeeper. And Trafford has somehow been even better than advertised, standing out as the best statistical keeper in the entire Premier League with a save percentage of 80.5. He is also third in the league in goals allowed per 90.

Kinsky is only 13th in save percentage and 7th in goals allowed per game, though after these last two weeks, he does have a better ratio of clean sheets than James Trafford. Saturday's head to head battle against Trafford and Leeds is a chance for Kinsky to shine with the attention of a narrative around him. Spurs don't regret keeping him over spending on Trafford, but Trafford has definitely been better by the numbers this season. Kinsky will want to step up and take a stand against the top keeper across from him.
