Tottenham are considering bringing in Xavi as a replacement for Thomas Frank as pressure mounts on the Dane, reports Spanish publication Fichajes.
Spurs fell to a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon as a Callum Hudson-Odoi brace and a late Ibrahim Sangare strike condemned the north London side to a sixth league defeat of the season.
The result leaves the north London side in 11th on 22 points as Frank struggles to leave an impression at the club.
Spurs have now won only one of their last seven league matches and their top four hopes are now in tatters.
Fans demand Spurs axe Frank
Supporters are now calling for the club to relieve Frank of his duties just six months after succeeding Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium helm.
The club is clearly lacking identity and this has translated to a number of poor performances, notably in defeats to Chelsea, Arsenal and on Sunday at Forest.
Additionally, Frank looks to have lost the trust of the players, summed up Djed Spence’s reaction to his second half withdrawal at the City Ground.
Xavi emerges as potential replacement
And Spurs have reportedly identified Xavi as the man to succeed Frank in the capital. The Spaniard is currently out of work having left his role as Barcelona boss in 2024.
Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is believed to be a huge admirer of Xavi, who guided the Blaugrana to the La Liga title and Supercopa de Espana in 2023.
The appointment of the 45-year-old would certainly sit well with supporters, who are frustrated at the lack of progress under Frank.
Spurs are next in action on Saturday evening when they host defending champions Liverpool before they round off 2025 with a trip to London rivals Crystal Palace.
The Europa League champions then kick off 2026 with a trip to Frank’s former side Brentford, who were held to a 1-1 draw with Leeds on Sunday.
