Tottenham Plot Shock Move for Liverpool Star Andy Robertson in Surprise January Deal

Tottenham are working on a surprise deal to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool, reports The Athletic.
Robertson has been a regular feature for the Reds since joining from Hull in 2017, and was vital as the Merseyside outfit won the Premier League twice and the Champions League since moving to Anfield.
Robertson struggling for minutes
However, the Scot has found playing time hard to come by this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.
Robertson has made just four starts for Arne Slot’s side in England’s top tier this term and he is expected to leave the club at some point this year.
Spurs, though, are now pushing to bring Robertson to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month having initially planned to make a move for the 31-year-old in the summer when the left-back becomes a free agent.
Spurs looking to bolster squad
The north London side are looking to reinforce Thomas Frank’s injury-hit squad for the second half of the season.
Ben Davies suffered a left ankle fracture during Spurs’ 2-1 loss to West Ham last weekend and the club are keen to bring in an experienced defender for the coming months.
Spurs have been relatively active in the January market having signed Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid earlier this month.
Additionally, Spurs confirmed the arrival of teenage left-back Souza from Brazilian side Santos on Thursday night.
Frank still under pressure
Frank takes his side to Burnley on Saturday in a bid to correct the club’s current slide.
Saturday’s loss to West Ham means Spurs have won only two of their last 13 league matches with the Dane under pressure to turn the club’s fortunes around.
While Spurs struggle domestically, they are flying in European competition with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek boosting the club’s chances of automatically progressing to the last-16 of the competition.
