Premier League trio Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all readying a move for Brentford star Igor Thiago, reports Caught Offside.

The Brazilian powerhouse frontman endured a tough debut season in England following his arrival from Club Brugge last summer with a knee injury suffered in pre-season restricting Thaigo to just eight league outings, seven of which were from the bench.

However, the 24-year-old is looking to make up for lost time having already scored 11 league goals in the 2025/26 campaign.

Brentford have made a commendable start to life under Keith Andrews, who took over the reins at the Gtech Community Stadium earlier this year following Thomas Frank’s switch to Tottenham.

Brentford boss allays Thiago injury worries

Thiago started the midweek 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on the bench, and Andrews moved to allay fears that the striker had suffered another injury.

"I feel it's right. Tough week, tough games. We have the luxury of making changes and a couple of knocks to consider,” Andrews told Sky Sports ahead of the London derby, which was settled by goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka either side of half time.

"It's about tonight, in terms of the confidence I have in the group. There's a calmness about the players. I have no doubts about the players coming into the team. They are consummate professionals.”

Thiago is expected to return to the Brentford lineup for Saturday’s game at Tottenham, where the north London side can run the rule over the striker.

Spurs expected to dip into the market in January

Spurs have endured a tough debut season under Frank, and find themselves down in 11th after their midweek 2-2 draw with Newcastle, a result that means they are now winless in five in the league.

Frank hasn’t been helped by the absence of Dominic Solanke, who hasn’t played since August owing to an ankle injury.

And with both Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani struggling for form, Spurs are weighing up their options in the January window.

Newcastle and Villa also linked with Thiago

Newcastle and Villa have also been credited with an interest in Thiago, with the pair looking into the possibility of strengthening their respective frontlines.

The Magpies added both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to the squad over the summer, though the latter, who arrived from Brentford, is yet to make his debut for the Magpies having suffered a knee injury while on international duty with DR Congo in September.

Villa, meanwhile, are hoping to ease the goalscoring burden on star striker Ollie Watkins, who scored his second and third league goals of the season in Wednesday’s entertaining 4-3 win at Brighton.

Brentford, however, are reluctant to cash in on Thiago at this stage of the season, and it would take an offer of between €35m and €40m to convince the Bees to sell their prized forward.
