Three Premier League clubs circling Lennart Karl after eye-opening Uli Hoeneß comments
Premier League clubs are taking a look at Lennart Karl amid some concerns over the player’s future in Munich.
This follows some eye-catching comments from Uli Hoeneß, in which the Bayern chief promised to have a private conversation with the attacker over his off-field behaviour.
Premier League clubs may see Lennart Karl as an opportunity
Bayern’s internal position is clear: they want to keep the teenager and continue developing him at the Allianz Arena.
However, that won’t stop the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United from exploring any opportunity that arises in the meantime.
“Of course, the Premier League is also reading what is being said in Germany. I heard that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United saw that there is something going on around Lennart Karl,” Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“Ultimately, when there’s a player at the Ballon d ‘Or ceremony who finished fourth in the Men’s Kopa Trophy (behind Warren Zaire-Emery, Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal), he’s going to be interesting to other clubs. So calls have been made to ascertain what’s going on with the player and whether anyone’s not totally satisfied with the young German in Munich.
“He’s got a value of €60m [£50.1m], so it’s more than possible for Premier League clubs. It’s getting interesting. Until now, there haven’t been any talks over a new contract. When he was 18, he was given a professional contract until 2029 (the same expiry date as Michael Olise’s terms). So, we have to see what happens with the negotiations.
“Lennart Karl was very professional about Uli Hoeneß’s comments and played very well in the DFB Pokal win over Magdeburg. Ultimately, with injuries in the squad, Bayern Munich really need him at the moment.”
Manchester United have the biggest need for Karl
Of the three clubs mentioned, one reasonably suspects that Manchester United have the greatest need of a profile like Karl’s.
There’s a big question mark over the future of current top playmaker and number 10, Bruno Fernandes. Not to mention the fact that United don’t appear to have a reliable covering option for Bryan Mbeumo on the right flank.
That’s all well and good, but the point worth emphasising is that Lennart Karl would be trading life at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for what is, respectfully, a basket case of a football club at Old Trafford.
There’s uncertainty over the head coach’s position at the helm and, still, questions over the club’s culture from top to bottom.
Karl may get more minutes, but at what cost?
