Sunderland boss Le Bris: ‘This team cares’
Sunderland Head Coach Regis Le Bris has made clear that poor recent results have left his players emotional, and stressed that his players “care” about getting things right for the club.
Sunderland currently sit bottom of the Premier League table, having picked up only four points after seven games.
Le Bris admitted that their league “results are not good enough”, and has called on his players to be “tough on each other”, in order to raise their standards.
He continued, “When we lose games we are not happy.”
“I think this team has emotions, and this team cares a lot as well.
“It’s really positive to have reactions, and to try to find solutions because we still have a good team.
“We know how relentless this league [Premier League] is – when you make a few mistakes, then you get punished quickly. It was the case again at Bournemouth, so it’s important to understand, it’s important to work together.
“It’s important to share ideas as well, and tell the truth with each other.”
Le Bris was speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League trip to face Lech Poznań. The Black Cats have faired better when playing continental football so far this season, winning both of their fixtures in the competition so far.
In Lech Poznań, they are facing the Polish champions and will hope to regain some morale with another European victory.
However, Le Bris will be aware that wins in the Europa League will not suffice if they domestic form continues to nosedive. The Sunderland boss will be boosted by the return of star striker Brian Brobbey to first team training, although Wilson Isidor and Thomas Meunier trained alone ahead of the encounter.
