Marco Rose highlighted the quality he had on the bench after Bournemouth came from a goal down to run out 1-3 victors over Sparta Prague.

The Cherries maintained a perfect start to their debut European campaign, achieving a fourth victory from as many Europa League games, and are now on a seven-match winning streak in all competitions.

It was not all plain sailing for the south coast club, with Lewis Cook missing from the penalty spot shortly before Sparta took the lead in the 35th minute through Ebrima Singhateh. The Czech side handed Bournemouth immediate hope for a comeback when Tobias Guddal was sent off, however.

Spurred on with an extra man, Rose’s side came out flying in the second half. The German manager’s substitutes made the ultimate difference, as goals from Tyler Adams, Evanilson and Rayan earned Bournemouth all three points and preserved the club’s perfect European record.

“When you have this kind of quality on the bench it makes you composed as a coach,” Rose told TNT Sports.

“By the end it was a good team performance from everyone. To comeback away here is a good sign to everyone in the team.

“They were a good opponent who were strong in possession and hard to press. They scored a really nice goal. We said at halftime to not get frustrated, and to continue to believe in ourselves.

“We had to be clinical and increase the speed of the game.”

Seven victories on the bounce is Bournemouth’s best winning run since 2014, but Rose insisted his squad cannot get complacent.

“It’s a big achievement and we have to continue,” Rose added.

“We need to stay alert and sharp. It’s up to us to use this momentum, as everyone will try to beat us. If we get in a little bit of a comfort zone, we’ll be in trouble.”
