Rooney launches X-rated rant disclosing what he’d tell the Man Utd players if he were Carrick

Wayne Rooney has launched an X-rated attack on the Manchester United players following Sunday’s defeat to Bournemouth.

The former Red was taken aback at just how dismal the players performed in matchweek eight, with the result putting Michael Carrick on the brink of losing his job.

What Rooney would say to the United squad

Rooney said on Stick to United: “I’d love to walk in that dressing room and f*****g sit them all down and say, ‘what the f**k are you doing?’

“What type of performance do you think this is? Do you think you deserve to wear that shirt with how you are walking around the pitch?

“Put a f*****g firework up their a**e because they’re not f*****g doing anything.”

It marked a second successive defeat for United across all competitions after they were thrashed 4-1 by Champions League newbies Como last Wednesday.

Carrick: The state of play

Fans voiced their support for Carrick at Old Trafford over the weekend, as they looked to make it clear to the manager that he was not to blame for United’s calamitous situation.

Yet, he will undoubtedly take the fall and eventually be relieved of his duties, allowing the board to rinse and repeat their method of replacing the head coach every year without ever removing the root cause of the problems.

Next up for United as they aim to end their eight-game winless run is a trip to face Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues on the back of a shock 2-0 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
