Matchweek 7 of the Premier League season saw Manchester City maintain their perfect start and in-form Brighton thump rivals Crystal Palace, while Bournemouth, Fulham and Tottenham all recorded their first wins of the campaign.

It was another weekend marked by some impressive attacking performances, and we’ve highlighted the standout individuals in a number of key offensive categories.

Premier League most goals: Neto nets twice as Haaland comfortably holds onto top spot

Erling Haaland is firmly on track for a fourth Premier League Golden Boot in five seasons

Pedro Neto and Erling Haaland both played decisive roles in wins for Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

Neto bagged his first-ever Premier League brace as the Blues triumphed 2-0 at Everton, while Haaland secured his fourth brace in all competitions this season alone to ensure Man City beat Ipswich 3-2 to make it seven straight victories to start the league campaign.

With eight Premier League goals this term, Haaland, as he so often does, tops the Golden Boot standings – three goals clear of Liverpool’s Alexander Isak and Neto’s Chelsea teammate Joao Pedro.

Premier League most shots: Rayan and Wissa routinely have a go

Neto and Haaland might have been the only Premier League two players to score more than once this weekend, but only the latter features among the seven players who attempted five shots or more – a list headed by Rayan of Bournemouth and Yoane Wissa of Newcastle.

However, neither of those players were able to get on the scoresheet – though Rayan was at least on the winning side for Bournemouth, who beat Sunderland 2-0, with Newcastle losing 1-0 to Aston Villa.

Premier League most shots on target: Neto leads the way for efficiency

Neto showed that quality trumps quality by scoring twice from three shots – all of which hit the target.

In the same game, Everton’s Thierno Barry tested the goalkeeper three times but couldn’t find a way through – as did the aforementioned Rayan for Bournemouth against Sunderland.

Premier League highest xG: Bournemouth duo do what’s expected

Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson have accounted for two-thirds of Bournemouth's Premier League goals this term

Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson moved to four and two Premier League goals for the campaign respectively – and they were the only two players to pass 1.00 Expected Goals (xG) in Matchweek 7.

Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood was next on the list, scoring once from 0.92 xG in his side’s 5-0 drubbing of Palace – a game in which Diego Gomez produced easily the goal of the season so far, lobbing Walter Benitez from just about the halfway line with a chance worth a mere 0.01 xG.

Premier League most big chances scored: Haaland does what Haaland does

He’s scored almost twice as many big chances as any other Premier League player this term, and Haaland was the only player to score more than one of them in the latest round of fixtures.

It’s no less than we’ve come to expect from the machine-like Norwegian, who continues to underline his utterly clinical nature with eight league goals from 5.68 xG in 2026/27.

Top FPL midfielders in Matchweek 7: Haaland Mr Reliable as Ayari proves value

While the vast majority of Fantasy Premier League managers (76.8%) yet again benefitted from having Haaland in their team, there were some big differential impacts from far less-selected players this weekend.

And none more so than Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari (priced at a very affordable £5.4m), who scored Brighton’s third goal against Palace and racked up a very handy 13-point haul for the 0.5% of FPL bosses who backed him.
