  • Wolves are bottom of the Premier League without a win

  • Nottingham Forest lost 2-0 against Brighton on Sunday

Wolves welcome Nottingham Forest to Molineux for a huge Premier League relegation tussle on Wednesday night.

Forest head to Wolverhampton having eased outside the bottom three courtesy of a revival under Sean Dyche, though Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Brighton stopped them in their tracks.

The Tricky Trees are in a far healthier state than Wolves, who have just two points to their name from a luckless 13 games and await their first goal, never mind point, under new head coach Rob Edwards.

Team news

Ladislav Krejci was forced to miss Wolves' 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Sunday, though Edwards is hopeful he will be fit to return against Forest.

Teenager Mateus Mane impressed off the bench at Villa Park and could be pushing for a start.

For Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White is a doubt against his former club after a back problem flared up against Brighton.

Dyche hopes centre-back Murillo has recovered from a tight hamstring to resume duties alongside Nikola Milenkovic.

The stats

Wolves have lost seven in a row and are the only side in the Premier League yet to win a game.

Wolves have failed to score in four successive matches.

Forest have kept two successive away clean sheets, 0-0 at Sturm Graz in the Europa League followed by a 3-0 win at Liverpool.

Wolves win an average of 3.1 corners per game in the Premier League this term, only Burnley muster less.

Four of the six Premier League meetings between these sides have ended in draws.

Prediction

Wolves need wins and need them fast but on the evidence of how the season has unfolded so far it is not easy to see where they come from.

A visit from Forest represents exactly the type of fixture they need to be winning but the best they can probably hope for is a draw.

Certainly the Old Gold were much improved in their second game under Edwards than their first, Sunday's 1-0 loss at Villa unrecognisable from the previous week's tame 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

They need to build on the effort of that Villa performance but the real worry is where the goals are going to come from.

What was impressive against Villa was how they nullified Unai Emery's side, restricting their top-four hosts to a handful of efforts themselves.

That, in turn, has to give them a chance of at least avoiding defeat against Forest in a fixture that has habitually ended in a draw.

Forest's loss to Brighton was just their second in the last eight and confirms what a decent side they are, but not a side who Wolves should feel intimidated by.
