  • West Ham were knocked out of FA Cup last weekend by Leeds

  • Wolves are bottom but have won two of their last three league games

  • Recommended bet: Draw or Wolves double chance

It was a case of ecstasy turning to agony for West Ham on Sunday as they fought back from the dead to earn FA Cup extra-time against Leeds, only to be knocked out on penalties.

The Hammers still have plenty to do to ensure they remain in the Premier League, but they have won just one of their last six league outings and could find life tough against bottom-of-the-league Wolves, who have strung some decent results together recently.

Team news

Hammers defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is hoping to shake off a knock while Jean-Clair Todibo and Crysencio Summerville are nearing returns. Reserve goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has a back injury.

Wolves midfielder Enso Gonzalez has a knee injury which could keep him out for the rest of the campaign, while goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is also unavailable.

The stats

Both teams have scored in six of West Ham’s last eight league home games.

The Hammers have drawn their last five matches at the London Stadium.

West Ham have kept one home league clean sheet all season.

Wolves have lost one of their last six league outings.

The Black Country outfit have scored twice in four of their last five league games.

West Ham have scored more than once in just one of their last six league matches.

Prediction

West Ham’s FA Cup penalty-shootout defeat to Leeds may have left some scars, but they have no time to lick their wounds as their battle for Premier League survival continues with a key clash against bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

And while their position has looked more precarious at times this season, they have just taken their foot off the gas in the league and could be vulnerable against a team who have discovered their battling qualities in the last few weeks.

The Hammers are still in the bottom three and will be conscious that they have already lost twice at Molineux in the league and the EFL Cup this season.

They have failed to get over the line in their last five home matches and there are no guarantees that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will get back to winning ways at the London Stadium against his former club.

Wolves' best recent results have come at home where they have impressively drawn 2-2 with leaders Arsenal and beaten Aston Villa and Liverpool in the last month.

And Rob Edwards’s side should also have gained plenty of confidence from recovering from a two-goal deficit to earn a draw at Brentford in their last away game so they are capable of getting something from their trip to the East End.
