Sunderland ramain hard to beat under Regis Le Bris at the Stadium of Light
  • Sunderland have lost their last two Premier League matches

  • Fulham won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in November 2025

  • Recommended bet: Sunderland to win

Sunderland welcome Fulham to the Stadium of Light this Sunday with both clubs looking to break into the top half of the Premier League table.

The Black Cats progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Oxford last time out, but they have lost their last two in the league.

Fulham enter this clash sitting just two points below Sunderland in the table and will be aiming to win in the top flight for the first time in nearly a month.

Marco Silva’s men are also through to the next round of the FA Cup, beating Stoke 2-1 last weekend.

Team news

Sunderland will be without the services of both Bertrand Traore and Reinildo Mandava due to knee injuries for the next couple of weeks.

On a more positive note, Granit Xhaka looks set to return having missed the previous four matches due to injury.

For Fulham, Silva will have to make do without Sasa Lukic, Samuel Chukwueze and Tom Cairney for the trip to the north east.

Aside from that, the Portuguese has plenty of options available to him as the Cottagers seek a first league win since January 24.

The stats

Fulham hold the upper hand in this matchup of late, having won three of the last four meetings, drawing the other.

The reverse fixture in November was the first time these clubs had faced each other in the top flight since the 2013/14 season. Across 21 Premier League meetings, Fulham have won nine times, with Sunderland claiming just five wins in that period.

Sunderland’s home form, however, is a key factor ahead of this match. Indeed, the club have suffered only one defeat at the Stadium of Light this season and that came last week against Liverpool.

The Black Cats have drawn against Arsenal and Man,chester City at home, while also sealing a superb win over Newcastle in December.

In contrast, Fulham have won only three games away from home this season.

Both teams have scored in four of the last six meetings between these sides.

Prediction

This will likely be a closely-fought contest, with both teams aiming to move up the Premier League table with three points this weekend.

Sunderland can take solace from their incredible form at the Stadium of Light, which should be enough to carry them to victory on Sunday.

Fulham will not make it easy, however, especially as they have only failed to score in two of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

But Sunderland should simply have too much in front of their own supporters and can secure an eighth top-flight home win of the campaign.
