Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Fulham just three days after a draining Europa League defeat.

Forest lost their fourth game in five on Thursday, despite dominating possession and creating more chances than Midtjylland. And the optimism that flowed after Vitor Pereira earned a 3-0 win over Fenerbahce in his first game in charge has long gone.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is looking for a response to last weekend’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Championship side Southampton after a flat performance at Craven Cottage drew boos from the home support.

The Londoners, who lost their last Premier League game at home to West Ham by the same score, have won their last two away trips and defeated Forest’s relegation rivals Tottenham 2-1 at the start of the month.

Team news

Forest’s preparations have been complicated by injuries and fatigue. Defender Jair Cunha is a major doubt after limping off with an ankle issue on Thursday, while Dan Ndoye’s availability remains uncertain after he missed the Midtjylland clash with an unspecified problem.

Pereira also continues to be without long‑term absentees Chris Wood up front and John Victor in goal, and is awaiting clarity on whether full‑back Nicolo Savona will play again this season following knee surgery.

Stefan Ortega is close to returning from a calf injury but may not be risked with Matz Sels likely to keep his place between the posts.

As for Fulham, they have a couple of fitness concerns of their own — although Silva was reluctant to elaborate on them when questioned.

Harry Wilson is “in contention” according to the Portuguese coach, but the Welshman will need to come through a final assessment

Brazilian winger Kevin is set to miss the remainder of the season following ankle surgery and Mexican marksman Raul Jimenez is not certain to feature following the death of his father.

The stats

Forest have won just one of their seven Premier League games against Fulham, losing six.

Fulham have failed to score in the first half of 23 matches this season — only Forest and Wolves (26 each) have done so more often.

Forest have won just one of their last eight games in all competitions and have not kept a clean sheet in the league since early January.

Fulham won 15 corners in their last match — their highest total since 2017 — but failed to make the pressure count.

Forest have scored only once in their last five home league games.

Prediction

Forest could and should have scored a hatful against Midtjylland, but they came up against a solid goalkeeper and lacked a bit of luck in front of goal.

However, the emotional and physical toll of Thursday night cannot be ignored in the context of this match and with key players doubtful, the hosts may struggle to maintain intensity across 90 minutes.

Fulham are hardly flying, but their structure, experience and relative freshness gives them an edge in what is likely to be a cagey, low‑scoring affair.

With Forest’s confidence fragile and Fulham’s away form improving, the value lies in backing the visitors to get a positive result.
