Newcastle vs Leeds predictions: In-form pair tough to split in Tyneside tussle

Back-to-back Premier League wins mean Newcastle start the week ninth and just two points off the top five
Leeds are 16th but have opened up an eight-point gap to the relegation zone
Recommended bet: Draw
Title hopefuls Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City may be the Premier League's form teams yet only one can match Leeds when it comes to the longest ongoing unbeaten run in the competition.
Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United – a result which saw the Red Devils sack Ruben Amorim shortly after – extended the Whites' unbeaten run to seven and they will be full of confidence ahead of Wednesday's trip to St James' Park.
Newcastle are strong favourites to pick up a third straight win but there is every chance Leeds are being underestimated and leaving Tyneside with a point in the bag is not beyond them.

Team news
Jacob Murphy is available despite being forced off in Newcastle's win over Crystal Palace but this game comes too soon for Anthony Elanga, who is joined on the sidelines by Emil Krafth, Dan Burn and William Osula.
Daniel Farke has been quick to deny any rumours suggesting Jayden Bogle will leave this month but he has confirmed the full-back will miss out through injury again, alongside Joe Rodon, Dan James and former Magpies' midfielder Sean Longstaff.
Ethan Ampadu is back from suspension, though, and should come in for Ilia Gruev.

Prediction
The odds suggest this should be a routine victory for Newcastle but Leeds have proved plenty of times in recent weeks that there is no such thing against the Whites.
As well as Manchester United, Farke's side have also held Sunderland and Liverpool (twice) to draws in their unbeaten run, a streak which also includes a 3-1 win over Chelsea and a 4-1 rout of FA Cup holders Crystal Palace.
Leeds have looked a completely different team since switching to a 3-5-2 system and their defensive organisation and ability to catch teams on the break could work well against Newcastle, who prefer to play that way themselves.
The Magpies often look uncomfortable when forced to dominate possession and their price looks far too short. A loss is unlikely – they are unbeaten in 11 home matches after all – but a sixth draw in seven Leeds games is undoubtedly a possibility.
