Liverpool are within touching distance of qualifying for the Champions League and will hope to further boost their top-five hopes with a home victory over Chelsea, who have lost six successive games in the Premier League.

The Reds need to respond to Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United and require just four points from their remaining three games to be certain of a top-five place.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's hopes of joining them in the Champions League next season have all but vanished following a horrendous six-game losing run.

Team news

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is unlikely to have recovered from a hamstring strain, while Alexander Isak will be assessed after he missed the trip to Old Trafford with a minor groin injury.

Alisson could return in goal after his recent muscle injury but Giorgi Mamardashvili, Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo, Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley are all still out.

Chelsea will hope to have Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto back after recent knocks, but Jesse Derry is unlikely to feature after suffering a head injury against Nottingham Forest on Monday.

Jamie Gittens is still on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and Estevao has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a similar problem.

The stats

Chelsea have lost their last six games in the league.

The Blues have only scored one goal in their losing run — Joao Pedro's late consolation in Monday's 3-1 defeat at Forest.

Liverpool have won three of their last four league games.

Chelsea won the reverse fixture between the sides at Stamford Bridge in October 2-1.

Liverpool have won the last two Anfield meetings.

Dominik Szoboszlai has 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for Liverpool this season.

Prediction

Despite a season largely to forget, Liverpool are still very close to confirming their place in next season's Champions League, as there is a six-point buffer between Arne Slot's side in fourth and Bournemouth in sixth.

A home win over Chelsea is likely, deepening the Blues' woes, and it would be no surprise if Szoboszlai plays a key role.

The Hungary international has been outstanding all season and took his goal tally to 13 in all competitions when he scored the first against Manchester United on Sunday.
