Team News
Matt Targett, Elliot Stroud, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Nobel Mendy will be assessed by the Tigers, but Eliot Matazo, Jack Butland, Darko Gyabi, Ilyas Ansah, Charlie Hughes and Hidemasa Morita have all been ruled out.
Merlin Rohl, Christian Norgaard and Vitaly Mykolenko all face late tests for the Toffees.
Need to know
Hull were expected to struggle after gaining promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs but they have already posted some notable results including a home win over Manchester United and a draw with highly fancied Chelsea.
Everton, meanwhile, provide another tough test as while David Moyes’s side have not tasted success in their last seven league games on the road, they are unbeaten in seven matches this season as they look to improve upon last season’s 13th-placed finish.
Prediction
Hull have got off to an excellent start in their bid to stay in the Premier League and the Tigers should have plenty of confidence having beaten Manchester United and drawn with both Aston Villa and Chelsea this term.
They will scrap for every point and there is a strong chance that Sunday’s game against Everton could also finish level, although the Toffees’ draws at Tottenham and Bournemouth have to be respected, so go for the visitors on the double chance.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is having a decent start to the season for Moyes’s side and his tally of 26 shots in seven league and cup appearances this term is impressive.
His only goal so far came in the 2-0 opening win over Crystal Palace but the statistics suggest another may not be far away.
The Tigers will put a lot of faith in striker Oli McBurnie and he looks set for a titanic battle against the Everton rearguard.
He has been booked three times already this term and is likely to commit at least two fouls in a potentially bruising clash.
