  • Fulham have never lost a home Premier League match against Brighton

  • The Seagulls last victory at Craven Cottage came in the Championship in 2017

  • Recommended bet: Fulham to win

Fulham and Brighton will be aiming to reignite their European hopes when they meet at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Saturday.

Just a point and place separates the two sides in the standings, with Fulham 11th and Brighton 12th, but such is the concertinaed nature of the table, both teams are within striking distance of the top seven.

The Cottagers saw their six-match unbeaten run ended at Leeds last time out, while Brighton left it late to snatch a point against Bournemouth on Monday night, but they have now won just one of their last nine top-flight games.

Team news

Fulham should be handed a triple boost for this game, with Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze having all returned from representing Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, the Cottagers look set to be without midfielder Sasa Lukic, who picked up an unspecified injury in the defeat at Leeds, and he joins Kenny Tete and Rodrigo Muniz (both thigh) on the treatment table, while Emile Smith Rowe is doubtful after sustaining a knock in the same match.

Brighton are again expected to be without injured quartet Mats Wieffer (toe), Solly March (knee), Adam Webster (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (knee), but Maxim De Cuyper should return following illness.

The stats

Fulham are unbeaten in their five Premier League home matches against Brighton, winning four of those games.

The Cottagers had not lost in six league matches prior to their defeat at Leeds and they have not been beaten on home soil since a 2-1 reverse against Crystal Palace in early December.

Brighton have only won one of their 11 meetings with Fulham since being promoted to the Premier League — a 2-1 home success at the Amex Stadium last season.

The Seagulls' only victory across their last nine Premier League games was a 2-0 home triumph over relegation-threatened Burnley.

Fabian Hurzeler's side have only won two of their 11 away fixtures in the top flight this season.

Prediction

Fulham are Brighton's bogey team in the Premier League and the formbook suggests the Cottagers can pick up another three points against their visitors from the south coast.

Last weekend's loss at Leeds was a disappointment, but Fulham have taken seven points from the last nine available on home soil, a run that includes a draw with Liverpool and a win over west London rivals Chelsea.

Marco Silva's squad will also be boosted by the returns of Bassey, Iwobi and Chukwueze from AFCON and that could be enough to tip what is still expected to be a tight game in their favour.

Brighton's poor away record does not help their cause and they seem to have particular issues when visiting the capital, winning just two of their last 18 league trips to London.

With just one win in nine league games overall, the Seagulls are stuttering and could end up with a familiar sinking feeling at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
