Brentford have taken some big scalps already this season, defeating Aston Villa, Manchester United and Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Bees also drew with Chelsea and secured a 3-1 win over Newcastle prior to the most recent international break, however, last weekend they did lose against Brighton, but they remain 13th in the table.

Burnley find themselves 19th in the league table having won just a quarter of their fixtures and their eight defeats are second only to Wolves and improvement must come quickly.

Team news

Fabio Carvalho will miss the rest of the season for Brentford after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in training before the clash with Brighton.

He joins Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva, who are both suffering with ACL injuries, as being out for the long term.

Clarets boss Scott Parker will be missing just three players for the trip to London this weekend, as Zeki Amdouni, Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer will play no part against the Bees.

Kyle Walker is available, but one more booking will mean he faces a suspension.

The stats

Meetings between these two have been few and far between recently. Indeed, since the pair met during the 2015/16 campaign in the Championship, there has only been four meetings.

The head-to-head is split evenly, with both teams winning twice, although Burnley won the latest clash 2-1 in March 2024.

Brentford have been particularly strong at home this season, winning four of their six matches at the Community Stadium. Their only defeat came against Manchester City on October 5th.

Despite sitting 13th, they are closer to fifth place than the drop zone and this is thanks to goals from Igor Thiago.

The Brazilian already has nine league goals after just 12 matches, scoring against the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Man Utd already this term.

He could have had two last week, but saw his second penalty of the day saved by the Brighton goalkeeper.

Burnley have he third-worst defensive record in the top-flight, conceding 24 goals in 12 games. As such, Parker's men must be wary of the threat Thiago poses.

Prediction

The Clarets' sole league victory on the road came against Wolves a few weeks ago. Aside from that, they have lost all five other away matches this season.

Combine this with a dismal defensive record and it could be another disappointing weekend for Burnley.

Keith Andrews may have lost some of Brentford's star players in the summer, yet they are performing way above expectations in the Premier League.

Thiago has been a joy to watch and expect him to score yet again this weekend in a comfortable home win for the Bees.
