  • Arsenal top the Premier League after accumulating 19 points in eight matches

  • Crystal Palace have won just one of their last 14 away league games against Arsenal

  • Recommended bet: Arsenal to win with -1 handicap

Arsenal will be aiming to tighten their grip at the top of the Premier League standings when they welcome London rivals Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners are in imperious form, winning six matches on the spin across all competitions, including a trio of top-flight victories against Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham that has helped them move to the summit.

Mikel Arteta's side were 4-0 winners against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League during the week so confidence should be high, while Palace were also in European action, suffering a surprise home defeat to AEK Larnaca in the Conference League.

Team news

The big team news for Arsenal surrounds defender Gabriel Magalhaes, who was forced off late in the win over Atleti and now faces a race against time to prove his fitness.

One of Cristhian Mosquera or the fit-again Piero Hincapie will likely deputise should the Brazilian fail to prove his fitness, while knee injuries continue to rule out Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

Palace are likely to stick with a similar team to the one that lined up against Larnaca, although Chris Richards is set to replace Jaydee Canvot after the young defender's mistake led to the only goal of Thursday's contest.

Caleb Kporha (back), Cheick Doucoure (knee) and Chadi Riad (knee) remain unavailable for Oliver Glasner's side.

The stats

Arsenal boast the meanest defence in the Premier League this season, conceding just three goals in eight games.

The Gunners have also faced the fewest shots (65), shots on target (18) and hold the lowest xG against (4.8) in the division.

Across their six home matches in all competitions, Arsenal have registered five wins, scored 17 goals and conceded just once.

Crystal Palace lead the way in the Premier League this season when it comes to shots on target (43) and xG (17.4).

The Eagles have lost two of their last three games in all competitions after previously being on a 19-match unbeaten run.

Arsenal have won six of the last seven meetings with Palace, running up 5-0, 5-1 and 4-1 scorelines during that sequence.

Palace's last victory over their London rivals was a 3-0 success at Selhurst Park in April 2022.

Prediction

The table does not lie, Arsenal are the best team in the Premier League right now and they should chalk up their seventh victory on the spin across all competitions which, at the very least, would maintain their three-point cushion over the chasing pack.

The Gunners appear to be facing Palace at the right time, as the Eagles have gone off the boil since Everton ended their impressive 19-match unbeaten run at the start of the month, with the rigours of juggling domestic and European commitments perhaps taking its toll.

Palace were disappointing against Larnaca and heading to the Emirates less than 72 hours after that defeat is a daunting prospect, particularly given their recent record against their hosts.

This should end in another comfortable home win for the Gunners, who can ensure the points remain in North London with something to spare.
