Official: Maignan will only miss Ferencvaros game after Bournemouth red card

After his red card in the Europa League, AC Milan had feared a multi-game suspension for Mike Maignan, but this isn’t the case.

With a straight red card for violent conduct, there are often multi-game bans. So, it makes sense why the immediate fear for Maignan was an absence of a few games in the Europa League crucial stage.

However, these have been shut down today.

Only one game for Maignan

As MilanVibes relays from the official UEFA ‘booking list’, the French goalkeeper will only miss one game, the home clash against Ferencvaros. There were initially fears that he could miss two games, but this is not the case.

In a game of such importance, it would be ideal for the Rossoneri to be able to field a full-strength XI. Instead, though, it offers another chance to Lorenzo Torriani. Perhaps he can make himself the Europa League number one with a strong performance.

For Torriani, presumably, it will offer a rare chance for him to get starting minutes in a competitive game. If he steps up, who knows what the future could hold for him.

Regardless of that decision, though, Maignan will be back available on November 26 – after the international break – for the trip to face Olympiacos.
