Not Mainoo: Old Trafford insider confirms Man Utd starter has stepped up his recovery today by returning to training
Marcus Rashford has reportedly stepped up his recovery from his latest setback by returning to gym training at Carrington.
That’s according to Manchester United insider Sam C, who adds that the forward is continuing his rehabilitation, but remains unavailable for the time being.
Marcus Rashford among United absentees for Chelsea trip
Rashford was missing from the footage shared by journalists today of United’s open training session this morning, as was Luke Shaw.
However, Kobbie Mainoo was back amongst the squad, so fans are now hoping he will be involved in some form against Chelsea on Saturday after missing the last four games.
Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte are long-term absentees for Michael Carrick, with no return dates given for the sidelined trio.
How Rashford had been faring
Prior to his layoff, Rashford had made eight appearances across all competitions, six of which were as a starter.
He has yet to open his account since being reintegrated into the first-team at United, despite overseeing a stellar campaign with Barcelona last term.
Presumably, Carrick will be aiming to have the Carrington graduate back at his disposal after the November international break, which would see Rashford return just in time to face Liverpool at Anfield on the 22nd of the month.
Of course, whether Carrick himself stays that long remains to be seen, as his tenure was believed to be hanging by a thread following Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.
Yet, after hearing the United faithful voice their support for the former Red, INEOS have decided to give him the chance to turn things around in M16, starting with Saturday’s early kick-off contest at Stamford Bridge.
United will then welcome AS Roma to Old Trafford next Tuesday, before hosting Aston Villa on Sunday, November 8.
