Mourinho jokes he hopes he’s still alive to see Man City’s final punishment
Jose Mourinho feels that it will take so long for a final punishment to be handed to Manchester City after being found guilty of all charges relating to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules that he hopes he will still be alive to see the outcome: ‘Us in our sixties will need luck to still be here’.

Mourinho is entitled to feel disgruntled by the situation surrounding Manchester City given that his Manchester United side finished behind them in second place at the end of the 2017-18 season. The investigation into City’s breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules covered the years from 2009-10 until 2017-18.
Instead, Mourinho says he ‘prefers to laugh’ at the situation and jokes that he might be in his 80s by the time a final punishment is handed out.
Speaking in an interview with Ivan Zazzaroni of the Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho joked: “I prefer to laugh about it a bit. I think there will be a conclusion, but the two of us in our sixties will need luck to still be here when the final sentence comes out. There’s the verdict, then there will be appeals and appeals.”
‘The Special One’ went on to joke that he might be 80 years old by the time that a final punishment is given to City, but says that he hopes to still be coaching at that point as long as he has his health.
