Morgan Rogers contradicts Xabi Alonso with real reason for Chelsea’s superpower right now

Morgan Rogers has praised Xabi Alonso for his team talks, which he says are the reason behind Chelsea’s early goals.

We’ve been a little frustrated by Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso in press conferences, as he’s so determined to just give nothing away.

However he did something this week which we really liked. After his side once again took an early lead which helped them get a result, the media were asking what his secret was for getting his team to score all these goals early on.

It would have been easy for him to accept the praise and claim some influence on it, but instead he insisted it wasn’t anything special he was doing.

“I have nothing to do with it,” he said modestly.

“I have no explanation. No credit to me,” he insisted.

Rogers reveals Alonso’s pre match inspiration

Well, one of his players disagrees. Speaking after the game, Morgan Rogers gave his explanation for the Blues’ hot starts:

“I put it down to the manager’s team talks. He gets us firing, gets us going. We always want to start off on the front foot.

‘It’s about starting well and getting the lead. A lot of games, especially at home, we have won after jumping on the back of early goals. It’s a good trait to have which we need to keep going.”

Clearly Alonso has an inspirational side he keeps to the dressing room.
