Mikel Arteta has said Arsenal will have a plan to stop Alexander Isak when his team travel to Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon.

Arsenal head to Anfield to face Liverpool, knowing a positive result will take them above Manchester City at the top of the table.

The North Londoners are looking to end a poor recent record in this fixture, having not beaten Liverpool at Anfield in then Premier League since September 2012, a run of 13 games without a win.

Key to success will be containing the threat of Isak. The Swedish striker has started the season in fine form, with six goals in seven Premier League appearances. Only Erling Haaland has outscored Isak, who has bounced back from a difficult first season at Liverpool in style.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Arteta was asked about the threat of Isak. He said Arsenal's aim will be to keep the in-form forward 'as far from the goal as possible'.

Asked how his side plans to stop Isak, Arteta said: "By keeping him as far from the goal as possible.

"We always try, it’s not only him, it’s all the connections that they have, especially when they have space to run. We know how dangerous they are in that kind of moment, and the quality of the striker that we are talking about. That’s the opposition in the Premier League."
