Manchester United are mulling over treatment options for Benjamin Sesko’s latest injury setback.
According to Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall, the Red Devils are ‘not ruling out surgery’.

Marshall adds that Sesko’s problem is not the exact same as the shin injury that ended his maiden campaign prematurely, but it is in the same area.
The forward has been ruled out since before the international break, and it remains to be seen when he will be deemed fit enough to return.
Michael Carrick said in his pre-Atletico Madrid conference at the beginning of the week that the club would be running further tests on Sesko in order to really determine the severity and next course of action.
He is United’s only out-and-out centre-forward in the senior squad, so not having him as an option, even if just off the bench, could prove detrimental with the calibre of fixtures on the horizon.

Prior to his layoff, the Slovenian had not made a Premier League start in 2026/2027, but he was deployed from the off in the side’s Champions League and Carabao Cup openers.
Sesko, 23, had returned two goals in the six appearances he made across all competitions, and would’ve been chomping at the bit to continue adding to his tally once the international break was over.
Along with Sesko, Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw have all picked up injuries in recent weeks, which ruled them out of the European away tie in Madrid.
Matthijs de Ligt made the matchday squad on Tuesday night for the first time since November 2025 but was an unused substitute, so he’ll presumably play in some capacity during Sunday’s clash with Leeds United.
