Matty Cash has hailed the impact of Aston Villa's summer signings after the club's 2-1 win over Manchester City.

Aston Villa ended Manchester City's perfect Premier League record with victory at Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime. Nicolas Jackson scored both goals for Unai Emery's side, who climbed into the top six with three points.

A turbulent summer saw several of Villa's Europa League-winning squad depart, but Villa have recovered from a slow start to find form.

Cash praised the performances of the club's summer signings, singling out match-winner Jackson and goalkeeper Zion Suzuki for praise.

The right-back said Suzuki's comfortability on the ball had him questioning whether The Villans had accidentally signed a 'midfielder' in the summer.

"He's brilliant, his first session when he came in, in the possession drill I thought we'd signed a midfielder," Cash said to TNT Sports.

"His vision is unbelievable, he catches crosses really well which as a full-back is a dream."

On Jackson, Cash said the whole squad has been impressed by the striker, who has now scored six goals in his last six games: "Everyone has been really impressed with him. His quality is unbelievable, as a striker he wants goals and he's getting that.

"We had a lot of change at the start of the season, it was going to take time to gel and get comfortable with each other. Unai Emery is brilliant, having him stay is the main priority for us."
