Enzo Maresca insists he has no concerns over Marc Guehi after substituting the defender during Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Guehi was taken off at the break having made an error for Villa’s opener and also been booked in the first half.

But Maresca has backed the defender and insists he is not concerned by his performance.

“It’s just a technical decision, like it happens in all the games that the manager decides to make a change,” Maresca said.

“I’m not worried about Marc at all. I know that he is playing every minute since the season started with us and with the international team.

“It’s not easy but the change was also because he had a yellow card, and the way we want to be aggressive sometimes, to have one yellow card can be dangerous.

“But I’m not worried at all.”

Maresca also felt City deserved more from the game at Villa Park.

“I think we deserved more from the game, for the amount of chances that we created and for the chances that we conceded,” he said.
