Manchester United are considering a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Leeds United, amid Benjamin Sesko's injury issues.

Sesko has been ruled out until the New Year with an ongoing shin issue, which has restricted the forward to only 76 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Michael Carrick's side lack recognised centre-forward options in his absence, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee likely to deputise as auxiliary replacements. United are weighing up number nines ahead of the January transfer window, and The Athletic are reporting that Calvert-Lewin is on their radar.

The 29-year-old has rebuilt his career since joining Leeds from Everton on a free transfer in 2025, scoring 20 goals in 49 appearances. His form earned Calvert-Lewin a recall to the England squad after an absence of five years.

A transfer to Old Trafford is considered unlikely, given Calvert-Lewin's importance to Leeds and the fierce rivalry between the sides. Leeds are keen to reward the England international with a new contract, extending his current deal which is due to expire in 2028.

Manchester United mulled moves for several number nines during the summer window, with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Freiburg's Igor Matanovic under consideration. A move for a striker ultimately failed to materialise as the Red Devils focused on midfield signings, though Sesko's issues have heightened the need for reinforcements.
