Man Utd’s official media team speak out to confirm ‘good news’ ahead of Leeds trip
Manchester United are poised to welcome Noussair Mazraoui back to the fold for tomorrow’s clash with Leeds United.
The Reds’ official website revealed the ‘good news’ on Friday afternoon, shortly after Michael Carrick had addressed the media.
What did Carrick have to say about Mazraoui?
Speaking on Mazraoui’s potential return, the manager said: “Hopefully, we’ve got Nous back involved with us.
“He’s done a little bit of training, so he’ll be back around the group, which is a good step in the right direction for us.”
The 28-year-old has not featured for United since before the international break, as he then went on to sustain an injury while in action for Morocco.
It meant that he missed the draw with Tottenham Hotspur and defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, the latter of which saw centre-back Ayden Heaven filling in at left-back in the absence of Mazraoui, Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu.
Who’s unavailable vs Leeds?
Dorgu is still ruled out ahead of the Elland Road encounter, as are Benjamin Sesko and long-term absentee Manuel Ugarte.
Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo’s involvement is up in the air, so Carrick will be crossing his fingers that the pair can be deemed fit enough to feature.
United have won only once in the Premier League so far this season, and that came at home to newly promoted opponents Ipswich Town, while they’ve lost to Hull City and Manchester City.
Alas, a comfortable win on the road this weekend would be crucial for Carrick, especially before they resume their Champions League campaign just three days later away to Como.
