Man Utd want €75m superstar as next blockbuster signing
Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Nottingham Forest superstar Morgan Gibbs-White next year.
The England international has been linked with a City Ground exit for over 12 months, but he signed a lucrative new long-term contract last summer and it’s understood that Forest have no interest in sanctioning a sale in 2027, especially not in January.
However, his form has unsurprisingly attracted the attention of scouts across the Premier League, with Man Utd and Spurs both tracking his progress with keen interest, as per TEAMtalk.
The former view Gibbs-White, 26, as a possible replacement for Bruno Fernandes, who may leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal next year, while Roberto De Zerbi is eager to bring him to north London amid concerns over the form of Conor Gallagher and James Maddison.
Gibbs-White, whose current contract at Forest is due to expire in 2028, has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €75.1 million and while Man Utd are among the clubs pushing to finalise a potential deal, it’s reported that an agreement will be extremely hard to reach.
Forest regard the 26-year-old as an integral member of their future plans under Oliver Glasner and while Man Utd are keen to bring him to Old Trafford, a deal remains highly unlikely as things stand.
Who will Man Utd sign in 2027?
It’s understood that a new left-back will be prioritised by the Man Utd hierarchy next year, following their failure to sign Lewis Hall over the summer, while a central defender will be targeted if Lisandro Martinez departs Old Trafford as expected following his recent outburst at the club’s hierarchy.
Man Utd have also been tipped to pursue a potential deal for Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier in recent days, with the club stepping up internal transfer talks ahead of the upcoming January window.
The Red Devils secured their first win since 10 September against AS Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday night, despite being 2-0 down at half-time, and the pressure has temporarily been relieved on Carrick, who remains in charge despite the club’s subpar start to the new season.
Man Utd face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, aiming to secure their first Premier League victory since their 5-2 thrashing of newly-promoted Ipswich Town on 30 August.
