Man Utd Transfer News Today: €100m Felix Nmecha deal on as double raid eyed
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Felix Nmecha, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Nmecha still a target
Man Utd remain interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, TEAMtalk claims.
The Germany international is a long-standing target for the Red Devils, but a transfer in the summer proved impossible. Nmecha extended his contract in the spring, and Dortmund did not want to sell.
The situation could be different in 2027, although any transfer may require a fee in the region of €100 million. Nmecha, who came through the Man City academy, has never made a secret of his desire to return to England.
Double Palace raid?
The same outlet also writes that Man Utd are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace duo Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Like Nmecha, both players were previously linked with a move to Old Trafford, and it is asserted that the interest remains. Sarr has yet to make a decision on whether or not to extend his Palace contract. He was keen to leave in the summer, but was not permitted to do so.
Similarly, Mateta has been trying to engineer a transfer away from Selhurst Park for more than a year. Man Utd are determined to add an attacker in January and could pounce on the Frenchman's availability, with Palace likely to sell due to his expiring contract.
Barcelona eye Martinez
Barcelona are keeping tabs on Man Utd defender Lisandro Martinez, as per Sacha Tavolieri.
The Argentina international is expected to leave the club next summer. His outburst after the Atletico Madrid loss in the Champions League hammered home that Martinez is keen on a new challenge, and Man Utd won't stand in his way.
They have the option to extend his expiring contract by a year, but they are unlikely to exercise it, thus allowing him to freely choose his next club. Barcelona are among the teams keeping tabs on Martinez's situation.
Conte, McKenna interest
Michael Carrick remains safe in his job for now, but Man Utd's succession planning could suffer blows due to developments elsewhere.
Antonio Conte, whose camp has reportedly been in contact with the Red Devils, is also a target for Juventus, where Luciano Spalletti is under growing pressure. Journalist Daniele Fisichella believes that Conte, a Turin resident, would be more inclined to take charge of the Old Lady.
Meanwhile, The Guardian reports that former Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is emerging as a target for Crystal Palace as they mull over Pierre Sage's future. McKenna, a former United assistant, is currently out of a job and has previously been linked with the Old Trafford job.
