Liverpool's succession plan for Alisson Becker has been a topic of discussion for several years at Anfield.

Many believed that Caoimhin Kelleher was the long-term heir to Alisson's number one spot, but the Irish 'keeper is now a number one in his own right at Brentford.

Giorgi Mamardashvili appeared to be next in line when he first joined the Reds from Valencia, but the Georgian's development hasn't been as smooth as many would have hoped.

Although Liverpool have a few other options coming through the academy, and Lucca Brughmans is due to arrive from Genk in July, it is becoming more accepted that the club will have to turn to the transfer market to replace Alisson.

Liverpool monitoring Premier League 'keeper as Alisson heir

With less than 12 months remaining on his contract, Alisson's time at Anfield feels like it is coming to a close.

The Reds may well look to extend the Brazilian's stay, but either way the 34-year-old is beginning to enter the twilight of his career.

One of the more surprising names linked with a Merseyside move is Konstantinos Tzolakis, who joined newly promoted Premier League side Hull City in the summer.

That's according to a report from Ekrem Konur, who claims Liverpool have been closely monitoring Tzolakis' development.

The update states that Tzolakis' representatives have been informed that he would be among the Reds' top targets should the club enter the market for a goalkeeper next summer.

The Greek international has kept three clean sheets in seven Premier League matches and also saved the only penalty he has faced so far in the division.

Tzolakis joined Hull for a club record £20 million in the summer, and it would likely take a considerably larger fee to pry the 'keeper away after just one season assuming the Tigers stay up.

Alisson's future hasn't been decided yet, but Tzolakis could well be the man to step up and replace him when he does move on from Anfield.
