Liverpool want move for £60m Premier League star
Richard Hughes left Liverpool with a lot of work to do to their team.
Even though the Reds' former sporting director managed to spend way over £600 million during his time with the Anfield outfit, there are still a fair few areas among their ranks that could do with upgrading.
So, that's probably one of the main reasons why Liverpool appointed Julian Ward as their next sporting director so quickly.
At the moment, it's unclear who the Reds are going to try and sign in the upcoming January window but, since they still seem to have a decent bit of money left in their war chest, several moves could end up being made.
And now, a £60 million deal could be on the cards for the Anfield outfit.
Brentford will want more than £60 million to sell Kevin Schade in January
Even though Liverpool welcomed two attackers to their ranks in the summer, they're still a bit short up top.
Indeed, the fact that Hugo Ekitike isn't likely to make a return until the new year is a massive blow and, with how injury prone Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo have been this term, a new attacker or two would be a huge help.
Many different options have been discussed by Liverpool with one of the main things they want from a player being versatility.
If the Reds have a team full of players who can all cover more than one position, they'll never be short which would massively help them out in the long run.
So, the fact that TEAMtalk have now shared that long-term Liverpool target, Kevin Schade, would cost the Reds around £60 million to bring in is exciting.
"Kevin Schade has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most discussed attacking talents, with TEAMtalk able to confirm that Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in a potential transfer," they wrote.
"The 24-year-old German has scored three goals in six appearances for Brentford this season, helping the Bees remain unbeaten and rise to fourth in the table.
"Sources have confirmed Brentford would demand more than £60million for any January move, a figure well above Schade’s current market valuation of around £42million, per Transfermarkt.
"We understand that Arsenal and Liverpool are regarded as the most interested parties, having tracked him towards the end of the previous window."
Kevin Schade would be an excellent transfer for Liverpool
Admittedly, Schade's main position for Brentford this season has been on the left-wing but, throughout the entirety of his career, he's been used as a striker or a right-winger.
One of the main things Liverpool need is a natural right-winger but, when someone such as Schade can play equally well in each attacking position, bringing him in makes sense.
At the moment, the injuries suffered by Gakpo and Isak meant that Lewis Koumas had to be used as Liverpool's starting number nine during the Reds' last two games.
Of course, he did perform well but, for a club of the Anfield outfit's stature, they should have much more higher profile players starting for them.
£60 million may seem like a lot for someone who contributed to 12 goals last season but, when Liverpool are being quoted around £80 million for players such as Ismaila Sarr or Yankuba Minteh, the £60 million that Keith Andrews wants for Schade seems more than fair.
