Liverpool want 6ft star, incredible future is set
Liverpool are reportedly aiming to snap up a fantastic talent. This could mean a bright, bright future.
Liverpool have a problem at right-back. Jeremie Frimpong doesn't seem to be the final answer there and no one really knows what kind of shape Conor Bradley will return in.
Ronald Araujo is currently playing the role and doing very well, but he's only on loan and we imagine the Reds want someone more attacking there long-term. But what kind of player they want is a lot less clear.
Is experience the order? Or youth? There are solid arguments for both but we do imagine that youth is what Liverpool will eventually chase. They've signed wonderkids in essentially every position, after all.
And now they've been linked with another at right-back.
Liverpool like Emanuele Lulli
Teamtalk reports that Liverpool are after Emanuele Lulli of AS Roma (even if they're spelled his first-name wrong). The 19-year-old is making a real name for himself and looks destined to be one of the top left-backs in Europe with the right development.
Liverpool will certainly back themselves to give him that development. We know that purely because they're currently backing themselves to give elite-level development to about 30 players in around their first-team.
Moving for top youngsters has been the gameplan over the last few years. Giovanni Leoni didn't even have much senior experience in Serie A before Liverpool paid €30m for him.
We imagine Lulli will eventually go for similar, if not more. He's started four Serie A matches already this season, suggesting he'll be fully established by the end of the campaign.
But there is a caveat here. Lulli plays as a right-wingback rather than a full-back and it's a similar situation to Frimpong, who hasn't yet worked out in the more defensive role.
That's one to watch, then. Lulli could be the answer but he'll have to prove quite a lot before Liverpool go with him as a proper right-back.
