Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz is having his 'every move' monitored by four top clubs in Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid, reports an insider.
Wirtz is not having a great time at Liverpool following his £116.5million move to the club. In 56 games as Red, he has seven goals and 11 assists - one of which has come this season.
At former club Bayer Leverkusen, the playmaker averaged a goal or assist better than every other game - at Liverpool, it's far below that currently.
His performances this season don't suggest he's going to turn things round in a hurry, and yet Wirtz still has the eyes of some big sides on him.
Ekrem Konur reports Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all keeping close tabs on him, monitoring his every move.
At the moment, those moves aren't ones anyone will be particularly pleased in, though each side will potentially feel they can get more out of Wirtz than is happening at Liverpool.
Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso managed the German at Leverkusen, where he was his second-top scorer and his top assister.
The boss will likely feel he can get similar output out of Wirtz if he reunites with him. With that said, though, Chelsea already have two superstar No.10s in Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, and adding another might be overkill.
Paul Scholes feels Florian Wirtz should go to Spain
Amid the suggestion that Spain's two biggest clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, want to sign Wirtz, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes feels a move to the nation would be great for him.
He said on The Good, The Bad and The Football: “Florian Wirtz is made for Spain. He’s just small, and he is great technically.
“He’s not showing it at the minute. The ball’s bouncing off him.
“I don’t know how many times yesterday. You just It’s been that long now. How long do you give him for it to work?”
Scholes also suggested Wirtz does not look as motivated as he should do to succeed.
He said: “Wirtz, we think he’s a top-quality player, and they paid 100 million quid for him, but does he want it in his head enough to win games of football for Liverpool?
“Is he interested in goals, assists?
“He seems interested in all the little bits outside of it, which, to be fair, he isn’t doing that well.
“He looks like a little kid playing men’s football.
“You have to give [Bradley] Barcola a little bit of a pass. Has he only been there five games or something?
“And look, he’s a talented kid. But Wirtz is the one who’s been there for two years now.
“If you’re brought in for that money, you have to be winning games for your team.
“When I think about people in that position, I always think of Frank Lampard; he won his team’s games of football by being aggressive, scoring goals, and wanting to produce goals every week. It doesn’t look like he’s got that."
