Liverpool make contact to sign phenomenal German super talent

Liverpool have made contact to sign an incredibly talented German player.

When Jurgen Klopp took over a decade ago, there was this perception that he was going to bring in a lot of German players.

Klopp certainly tried. He wanted Timo Werner, Julian Brandt and Mario Gotze at some stage in his Liverpool career.

But Liverpool opted to sign alternatives instead. These ended up being pretty good, with the alternative to Werner being Diogo Jota and the alternative to Brandt being Mo Salah.

Klopp did still recruit players from the Bundesliga though.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate came from there. As did Ryan Gravenberch, Joel Matip and Naby Keita just to mention a few players.

But the biggest player the Reds signed from Germany came after Klopp's reign.

There was so much excitement when the Reds beat Manchester City and Bayern Munich to Wirtz's services.

But that excitement has not been felt on the pitch. Wirtz has been lacklustre to say the least. He's started this season in very average fashion.

Liverpool are struggling to find him in the right areas and he is struggling to make an impression on the pitch when he does get the ball.

He's been very disappointing overall. Liverpool had wanted a lot more from him.

However, this situation can be fixed. If Liverpool build a team around Wirtz just like Xabi Alonso tailored his system around the German star at Bayer Leverkusen, he will be able to flourish again.

In the meantime, the Reds are also looking to sign another German super talent.

Liverpool make contact to sign Lennart Karl

Accoding to Ekrem Konur, the Reds have already made informal contact to sign the Bayern Munich wonderkid who has broken multiple records with the German giants.

Karl has been described as the greatest German talent of his generation. He is a phenomenal no.10 who can play out wide and who has brilliant technical ability.

The youngster has recently been praised by Jurgen Klopp in his second press conference as Germany's head-coach.

"When I met Lennart for the first time and shook his hand, I immediately realised: this boy is ready. He’s a real powerhouse and very confident, with very pleasant manners. He’s also a bit 'cheeky/sassy', which I like. He had some outstanding moments before his injury. It was a really unfortunate time for him to get injured," Klopp said.

Despite being only 18-years-old, Karl already has 19 goal contributions in 45 matches for Bayern Munich's first-team. If the Reds could actually sign him, it would be remarkable.

But Konur does state a lot of clubs are also interested in him.
