Leeds vs Man United LIVE: Pressure mounts on Michael Carrick ahead of crunch Premier League clash
Leeds United play host to old rivals Manchester United this afternoon in a crucial Premier League contest for both teams.
Daniel Farke’s side have begun the season in superb fashion and sit seventh in the table following two wins and three draws from their first five matches. Last time out the suffered their first league defeat of the season as Premier League champions Arsenal came from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium after James Justin had given the Whites the lead. Yet despite the result Farke was pleased with his team’s performance and he will take confidence into today’s clash against a struggling Man Utd.
Michael Carrick’s team have won only once in the league so far – against Ipswich in August – and pressure is mounting on the manager to turn around their form. The noise around the club only increased during the week following a bombshell interview from Lisandro Martinez, which he has since apologised for, in which he took aim at the United hierarchy for a lack of investment.
Carrick knows the only way to quiet outside noise is to secure positive results on the pitch and he and his team will attempt to do so at Elland Road today.
