Leeds are ready to fight off January interest in striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Manchester United and a string of other Premier League clubs by offering the England forward a new contract.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a move away from the Elland Road side after scoring 14 Premier League goals last season – an achievement he has backed up by scoring four in the first nine games of this term.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of transfer rumours linking him to Man Utd, but Daniel Farke’s side are ready to shut that talk down by offering the former Everton ace a new contract.

Leeds open Calvert-Lewin contract talks: New long-term deal on table

Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation is one of the main reasons he is being actively linked with a move away from Leeds.

When he arrived on a free transfer from Everton in 2025, he signed a three-year deal. This means that he has around 18 months left on his current agreement. This puts Leeds in a position where they have to make a decision over his future.

If Calvert-Lewin goes into the last year of his deal, he could leave in 2028 on a free transfer.

While it would be a huge blow for Leeds to lose the forward, who is valued at €22.3 million, for nothing, bigger than the financial setback would be the loss of his prolific scoring qualities.

Leeds are ready to be proactive to stop this happening, according to transfer insider Nicolo Schira, who reports on X:

“Leeds are in talks to try to extend Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract until 2030. Some important Premier League clubs have shown interest in him, but Leeds would like to keep and to lock him.”

Calvert-Lewin hints at Leeds future

While the lure of Man Utd might be able to tempt Calvert-Lewin into a move, he is also conscious that he is in one of the best periods of his career.

Prior to moving to Leeds, he had hit double figures of Premier League goals in a single season only twice in his career, but he is on course to do so for a second successive campaign at Elland Road.

“There's a flow state, and I can certainly relate to that,” Calvert-Lewin told Goal. “It's when you come out of your head and more into your body, and just trust that your body knows what to do.

“I think it's a feeling that you get when you are performing well and you're not overthinking things. Things just come naturally. That's the grand old question: how do you tap into flow state more often so that, whether or not it’s result-based, you're always there?

“I think I can definitely say I'm there at the moment, and I have been there since I joined Leeds and since I started scoring.

“I think there probably were some narratives around me prior to me joining Leeds. And I think that I’ve smashed them.

“It was my intention to break those narratives by performing well and doing my job well on the football pitch, and I believe that I've done that to a certain extent.”
