Frank Lampard says he is pleased with the increased contributions shown by Coventry City’s summer signings.

Coventry claimed their third win of the season last weekend against Sunderland, with five summer signings starting, having spent around £130 million on 12 new signings during the summer transfer window.

The Sky Blues find themselves in 16th place in their Premier League after nine matches, two points and places above the relegation zone.

Ahead of his side’s clash with Everton on Friday night, Lampard spoke of his delight at how his new players have integrated within the established players in the squad.

Lampard said: “I would guess my selection so far was probably about three new players, sort of on average, and I think it’s an interesting point because I keep talking about it, but the players that came up [with us], we’re very, very happy with and some of them haven’t played in this league a lot, so they will be learning on their feet a bit.

“When we recruited, we wanted to recruit players that could come in and help us, as in start for us, I really pushed to be there because we haven’t got time for development. You can’t get promoted and try and develop too much.

“So I think it’s nice that in nine games you’re seeing that now, pretty even push of the new players coming in, understanding what we do, how we train, how we behave, what’s the demands of the team, and some get that quicker than others.

“And the players here who live in their own individual cases have never maybe played in the Premier League striving to get there, we have to give them some time.

“So I think to come to have five there, I’m not counting those numbers specifically, but I think when you put it that way, I think it’s interesting and it maybe shows that we’re hopefully getting a nice push from everyone to try and make the team.”
