Jaissle on Newcastle injury blow and possible returns ahead of Coventry

Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has confirmed Ewen Jaouen is set to be sidelined for a couple of months with injury.

Jaissle provided an update on his squad ahead of Newcastle’s game against Coventry and confirmed the blow for the Newcastle goalkeeper.

“We are, in general, pleased,” Jaissle said on his side’s injury situation.

“Ewen is a difficult one, he will be out for a couple of months, but the rest should be okay.”

Jaissle also revealed Newcastle are hoping to welcome several players back into the squad, although he stressed not everyone currently sidelined will be available.

“No, for sure they will not all be back,” he said.

“For now, we hope three or four players are ready to be in the squad.”

Joelinton is among those making progress, but Jaissle insists Newcastle will be cautious with his return.

“Joelinton is progressing and doing better and better,” he added.

“But we need to be smart in the load management.”
