It's happening, star waiting on green light for Liverpool return

One star could soon return to Liverpool. He's waiting on the green light and we fully expect him to get it.

Remember Jürgen Klopp's kids? Few of them actually remain at the club, even if that was under three years ago. Liverpool instead decided to cash in on them, using the money to finance an enormous spend over the last two summers.

It's a strategy we don't really agree with. Liverpool don't seem better off for it, while they're now up against the homegrown quota and need to find way to manoeuvre around it.

But that isn't to say that they cut ties with all of those players. Some they absolutely didn't - everyone is aware at this point that Jarell Quansah has a buyback clause, for instance, and could return to the club next summer.

We'll have to wait and see if Liverpool activate that clause but before then, another one of that generation could return to Anfield. We're talking as soon as the winter window.

Harvey Elliott ready to return to Liverpool

Harvey Elliott went out on loan to Valencia this summer, following on from a disastrous spell at Aston Villa last season. That spell really couldn't have gone worse - Villa were so eager not to trigger a buy clause that they simply didn't play Elliott for a year.

It felt, honestly, like Liverpool had failed him as much as Villa had. They could have brought him back in the January to find a different solution but refused to. Instead, Elliott lost a year of his career, effectively.

There was more hope for the Valencia loan, however, that was misplaced. Elliott is struggling to find minutes there and hasn't impressed with his performances. Maybe that's not a massive surprise after losing a season last term.

Plaza Deportiva now report that Elliott could be sent back to Liverpool in January. Valencia increasingly believe they should just call it quits as the player is struggling to adapt there.

And if this is the case, Liverpool should absolutely end the loan early. It makes no real sense to leave Elliott on loan again if he isn't wanted - even financially, it just tanks his valuation and benefits no one.

But morally, too, this has all been handled so poorly that forcing him to struggle on a loan that ultimately leads to nothing positive is awful after last season.
