Andoni Iraola has not ruled out the possibility of Ryan Gravenberch returning to the squad when Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.

The midfielder was not involved in the midweek defeat by Fenerbahce, where Liverpool twice squandered the lead to lose 3-2 in Turkey.

19-year-old Trey Nyoni started in his place and opened the scoring for Liverpool, his first goal for the club.

Gravenberch was on the bench for the 1-0 loss to Arsenal at Anfield the previous weekend, but was an unused substitute. He picked up a heel injury, with Liverpool boss Iraola saying in midweek that against Arsenal he “was warming up but he was not fully confident” and had not improved since then.

Iraola has since reiterated that it is “a day-to-day thing” but did not rule out the possibility of the Dutch international returning.

“It’s a matter of pain,” he added. “Let’s see if he can deal with the pain and help us.”
