Hurzeler hopeful Brighton star can return for Getafe after missing win over Man City

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler is hopeful Ferdi Kadioglu will be available for Thursday’s game against Getafe after the defender missed the 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Kadioglu trained ahead of the game but was still feeling the effects of the injury he suffered last weekend against Liverpool and was left out for the win at the Etihad.

“He trained yesterday but he still felt it and therefore we had to make a decision afterwards that it doesn’t make sense,” Hurzeler said.

“Hopefully now he can recover in the next few days.

“We have one more day than usual so I’m quite positive that he’s an option for Thursday.”

Hurzeler was also delighted with the response from his players following the disappointment of their midweek Carabao Cup exit to City on penalties.

“We were sitting in the locker room on Wednesday with a disappointing feeling because going out in a penalty shoot-out is brutal,” he said.

“It’s the worst way to lose a match.

“We promised ourselves on Saturday that we don’t want to have the same feeling.

“We want to have the feeling of being satisfied, of being happy after the game, that’s what we promised ourselves.”
