‘He had a bit of an issue’: Carrick discloses injury problem for Man Utd man who was ‘a threat’ vs Fulham

Michael Carrick has revealed that Marcus Rashford suffered a slight injury in the second half of Sunday’s stalemate at Fulham.

The forward lasted 77 minutes before being replaced by Joshua Zirkzee when United were still desperately chasing an equaliser.

Although he departed the pitch with 13 minutes left to play, Rashford still finished the game having recorded the most touches in the opposition’s box (10) and the most shots (six), as per Fotmob.

Unfortunately for United, none of those shots found their way past Bernd Leno.

Rashford created four chances on the night, covered 8.4km and made 31 accurate passes, as well as three line-breaking passes and two passes into the final third.

The 28-year-old is still awaiting his first goal since being reintegrated into the United squad at the beginning of the campaign, but his lack of goal contributions didn’t deter Thomas Tuchel from calling him up to the England setup for their Nations League fixtures over the prolonged international break.

What Carrick had to say about Rashford

Weighing in on the Carrington graduate’s performance with Sky Sports post-match, Carrick said: “I think he was a threat.

“You know, he could have had a couple of goals for us today. He’s getting himself in some really good positions. And it’s just not quite falling for him. And it will. It will.

“We had to bring him off because he had a bit of an issue. We know Marcus, we know how to get the best out of him and we’ll continue to do that.”

United return to Premier League action with a home encounter against Tottenham Hotspur, who remain winless after matchweek five, on Saturday, October 10.
