Manchester City were without Erling Haaland, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly in training ahead of their Champions League clash with AEK Athens.

The quartet were all absent from the session as Enzo Maresca’s side prepared for their latest European fixture, raising doubts over their availability.

Haaland, Kovacic and Nunes had all been checked following City’s 3-2 win over Ipswich at the weekend, with Maresca saying after the game that all three had indicated they were fine after suffering knocks.

“I asked all of them,” Maresca said.

“Mateo Kovacic said he was okay, Matheus said he was okay, Erling also said he was okay.”

O’Reilly, meanwhile, has been dealing with a back problem which first became an issue during the warm-up ahead of City’s clash with Coventry.

“Nico, if you remember, in the Coventry warm-up he had a problem with his back, it’s still the same problem,” Maresca said after the Ipswich win.

Their absence from training now leaves City waiting on the fitness of all four ahead of the meeting with AEK Athens.

Antoine Semenyo was also not involved, with Maresca having already confirmed that he is set for two months out.
