Future world-class defender is coming to Liverpool soon
There's an exciting and future world-class defender coming to Liverpool.
Julian Ward has been tasked with building a dynasty at Anfield. Just as his former colleague, Michael Edwards, has done.
The club's new sporting director is not exactly a stranger to this role. He has been here before. In 2022, Ward was appointed as Edward's successor.
Under his leadership, Liverpool extended Mo Salah's contract and brought in several key players like Luis Diaz.
But ultimately, disagreements with the coaching department took their toll on Ward. He stepped down only to return a year later when the coaching department had left.
Now with Andoni Iraola it looks like there is real synergy. The Spaniard is very open to working with any kind of player and is able to adapt to difficult challenges.
Liverpool's philosophy under Julian Ward
The club's target for the next few years is clear. Liverpool want to return to the upper echelons of the footballing world. But Ward will understand that this cannot be achieved over one transfer window.
Rebuilding takes time.
Liverpool are only just at the beginning of the rebuild phase. But already, the club has brought in some really exciting young players.
From Jeremy Jacquet to Hugo Ekitike and Victor Munoz. Not to mention how exciting Rio Ngumoha is looking right now after finally being given the freedom to unleash his flair by Iraola.
There's Trey Nyoni coming through and plenty of other young Liverpool players like Joshua Abe, Erik Farkas, Luca Eden and Mor Talla Ndiaye hoping to follow suit.
In the meantime, Ward is working on targeting the best young players across the globe.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe will be coming back as a world-class defender
As part of that strategy, one of the club's first signings of this new era was Ndukwe. The Austrian caught the attention of the club's recruitment team at the U17 World Cup.
Ndukwe played a key role in taking Austria to the final of the competition. As a centre-back he stood-out with his 6'7 frame and his incredible composure in defensive situations.
The way he plays is very similar to Virgil van Dijk. He is simply incredible with the way he is able to read the game at such a young age.
He showed that in pre-season, and he is confirming his incredible ability on loan at Levante in La Liga. In his latest game, Ndukwe won six out of six duels against Atletico Madrid, made five recoveries and four clearances all while completing 51 out of 54 pass attempts.
That's simply sensational. It's mouthwatering to think that he is coming to Liverpool very soon. The Reds have the option to recall him in January but if not then he is guaranteed to join when his loan spell expires in the summer.
