Farke hails Calvert-Lewin as “one of the best” in the Premier League as Leeds star earns England recall

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has said Dominic Calvert-Lewin is 'definitely one of the best strikers' in the Premier League.

Calvert-Lewin's impressive early season form has earned him a recall to the England squad, with Thomas Tuchel selecting the in-form forward for the upcoming internationals.

The 29-year-old has scored three goals in four Premier League appearances this season, and will link up with England for UEFA Nations League games against Spain, Czechia and Croatia.

It continues Calvert-Lewin's renaissance at Leeds, where he has scored 17 goals in 39 league appearances since arriving from Everton on a free transfer in 2025.

Farke said Calvert-Lewin's call-up is 'fully deserved' and believes the Leeds striker is one of the best number nines in the Premier League.

"Yes, fully deserved. A perfect start to the new season," Farke said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's fixture with Crystal Palace.

"He's scored goals, has delivered performances. He's played with a good confidence and is in a good rhythm. He definitely deserves this call-up.

"He came to us after difficult seasons with injuries and needed to find his rhythm and confidence back.

"He has got his confidence back and you can see right now he is way more in his rhythm and settled and also takes on a leadership role in our group. He is in such good shape.

"He's definitely one of the best strikers in this league."
