Liverpool are working on a massive deal according to Fabrizio Romano.

There's been a lot of critical sentiments shared on social media about the way the Reds have conducted their business over the last few years.

Some of these sentiments have been correct and have rightfully reflected the club's business. Liverpool were once one of the most well run club in the world.

Now, there is a feeling that they are no longer that. Mistakes have been made in the recruitment process. Liverpool have splashed the cash.

However, what if there was a purpose to all of this? What if Liverpool are still at the top of the recruitment charts? It's just merely that they are operating differently due to the changing of the market.

Liverpool's new recruitment strategy laid bare

The reality is that the market is vastly different to the one that Liverpool conquered around a decade ago. That means, you have to change the way you approach recruitment.

Liverpool were one of the early adapters of data-led recruitment. But now virtually every club is using data and scouting across the globe.

It's why Brighton and Brentford have been able to get ahead of the curve.

In this environment, Liverpool do need to spend more money for elite talent. And in this environment it also means you can't build an entire squad in one window.

Liverpool's new strategy has been to buy the best players available on the market and gradually build a team ready to compete at the highest level.

It's why Liverpool signed Bradley Barcola, Jeremy Jacquet, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak all for big money.

These were players who were courted by some of the biggest clubs in the world. But the Reds won the race for their signature.

It's also why Liverpool are recruiting at a younger age, trying to find their future superstars.

Among their best recruitment in the past couple of years has been Rio Ngumoha. He is continuing to prove that he's a generational talent, and probably on par with someone like Lamine Yamal.

Now Liverpool's problem is that his contract expires in 2028. They therefore need to extend his current terms.

Thankfully, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his Twitter account that Liverpool are working on what will be a massive deal for the club.

Tying Ngumoha's future down for the long-term could be huge.
